Troubleshooting Connection Errors

Problem

CrawlSage is unable to connect to your WordPress site integration, returning authentication or REST API rejections.

Symptoms

• Clicking **Test Connection** in the plugin dashboard returns "API Connection Failed".
• Applying an AI SEO fix returns a red "REST API Forbidden (401)" alert badge.

Possible Causes

• The workspace API connection token has refreshed or expired.
• WordPress REST API is disabled by a local security plugin.

Resolution

1. Navigate to your CrawlSage **Project Settings → API Keys** page.
2. Generate a new token key and copy the string value.
3. Log in to your WordPress admin panel and open the **CrawlSage Settings** menu.
4. Clear the token field, paste the new key, and click **Save Connection**.
5. Click **Test Connection** to verify status.

Verification

A green "Telemetry Active" status indicates the authentication handshake is complete.
