How to Audit Your First Website

Overview

CrawlSage doesn't require complex multi-step setups or workspaces configurations. To audit a website, you simply enter your target domain root URL and initiate a scan. The platform will automatically register the domain as a separate website profile on your dashboard under the Websites list.

Prerequisites

• An active CrawlSage account.
• A public website URL that is online and accessible.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Access the Dashboard: Log in to the CrawlSage console.
2. Input Your Website URL: Paste your website's canonical address (e.g. https://mybusiness.com) into the central input field.
3. Choose Operation & Scope:
   • Select **Run SEO Audit** or **Run AI SEO Fixes**.
   • Choose the scan boundaries: **Single Page** or **Full Site** scan.
   • If you want to deploy changes automatically, ensure the platform is set to **WordPress**.
4. Launch Scan: Click the primary action button. The platform will automatically register the domain and initialize the crawl.

Expected Result

The domain is registered, credits are allocated, and the progress tracker begins showing live page analysis logs. Upon completion, the audit report loads, listing technical details and AI recommendations.

Best Practices

• Confirm Live Protocol: Type the final canonical address. If your site redirects, enter the redirect target directly to save crawler connection time.
• Check robots.txt rules: Verify your server permits user-agent CrawlSageBot to crawl sitemaps.

Common Mistakes

• Entering local staging environments: CrawlSage operates on public web servers. Addresses like localhost or local staging environments cannot be resolved.
• Entering trailing query parameters: Avoid query strings unless you are target-scanning specific parameters templates.

Troubleshooting

• Scan returns connection error:
  1. Verify that your site is online.
