Troubleshooting Sitemap Parse Failures

Problem

CrawlSage cannot read your sitemap structure, reporting "Sitemap XML Parse Error".

Symptoms

• The crawler fails to locate pages on full audits.
• Errors logs report "Invalid XML tags format".

Resolution

1. Open your sitemap XML URL inside a browser to verify it compiles without structure syntax warnings.
2. Verify your sitemap file doesn't contain hidden blank lines at the top of the file before the XML declaration:
   xmlCopy

   <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

3. If using Yoast or Rank Math sitemaps, verify that the plugin rewrite rules are active in your .htaccess or Nginx configurations.
